The Boksburg Group has until now involved a large number of participants from around 50 countries and it was not feasible to continue on the principle of meetings where invitations would systematically be extended to all past participants. This could not be easily managed and would change the characteristics of the Group.
Therefore it was agreed that smaller meetings of the Boksburg Group focussing on specific issues would be of involving more of the members while producing papers and documents and ideas on specific issues. The aim of each focus group therefore would be to investigate in depth a small number of selected and strategic issues, and to report their findings to other Boksburg Group participants and to the core group meeting in Beijing in 2007.
