Boksburg Group

1st Meeting - Johannesburg, South Africa

This trade facilitation roundtable was held in the Boksburg district of Johannesburg, South Africa in June 2003. Representatives from 13, mostly developing, nations attended the meeting, from the areas of customs, trade policy and business.

The objective of the meeting was to provide a forum for emerging economies to discuss their concerns about beginning negotiations on a trade facilitation agreement in the WTO.

The success of this meeting led to development of the current Boksburg Group, named after the district where this meeting had been held.
