Objectives of the Boksburg Group
The objectives of the Boksburg Group are to:
- Share perspectives and understanding on trade facilitation especially with first time participants.
- Consider the progress being made by the WTO Negotiating Committee on Trade Facilitation.
- Address in detail the Boksburg views on Articles V, VIII and X of the GATT and to make recommendations for changes related to a trade facilitation agreement;
- Consider what the Boksburg Group believe that a trade facilitation agreement might look like and what it might include;
- Consider the next steps and keep at least six months ahead of developments in the negotiations.
The Boksburg Group is distinctly not a lobby group but could be categorised as a trade facilitation ‘think tank’ for developing countries. Whilst it represents a developing country perspective of trade facilitation it does not represent any single government or region. The papers and views expressed are not attributable to any individual but represent ideas and positions found to be acceptable to the group.
